My Approach

Insight + Practical Tools

Therapy with me is both insight-oriented and practical.

Together, we'll explore the patterns, beliefs, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to what you're struggling with, while also developing research-backed skills for managing emotions, communicating effectively, navigating relationships, and coping with life's challenges.

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches—including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, attachment-based, interpersonal, and strengths-based therapies (to name a few)—and tailor our work to your individual needs and goals. I believe there is no single approach that works for everyone; therapy should be flexible enough to meet you where you are.

My style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. I believe difficult emotions such as fear, sadness, anger, and shame are best approached with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. Our sessions are a space where you can be honest about what you're experiencing while feeling supported as we work to better understand it.

My goal isn't simply to help you feel better in the moment. It's to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build skills that translate into everyday life, and create meaningful, lasting, positive change.

Therapy is an Investment in Yourself

We are shaped by so much of what we experience—our families, relationships, environments, culture, and the experiences we carry with us. Over time, these experiences can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the world around us.

Therapy offers a space to slow down and better understand those influences with curiosity and compassion. With greater awareness, we can begin to recognize patterns, make different choices, and develop a deeper sense of agency in our lives.

I believe that investing in your mental health is an investment in yourself and your future.

Challenges aren't stop signs—they can be turning points, where growth and resilience take root.

What It’s Like to Work Together

You can expect:

  • Warmth without judgment

  • Honest feedback and thoughtful guidance

  • Meaningful, collaborative conversation

  • Practical tools you can use outside of therapy

  • A personalized approach to your goals

Client Testimonial

"Alicia has been vital in my growth over this past year. I've entered therapy 3-4 times throughout my life, but Alicia is the only provider that I've ever stuck with. She's thoughtful, intentional, great at listening and provides insight when it's most needed. She balances listening/asking questions perfectly and allows her patients the space and time they need to think through an idea. I've made significant progress with my mental health these last 11-12 months and have Alicia to thank for that. We've made connections on what/where some of my trauma is linked to, created personal goals on healing those past traumas, tracked those goals and chatted through numerous exercises/readings/etc that all help with my depression and anxiety. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone."

Client Testimonial

"Alicia Henry is a consummate professional and insightful therapist. Her insights, dialogue, and suggestions made a signifiant difference in my movement toward greater mental health. The recommendations she offered were instrumental for me in dealing with trauma and life crises. I am older and have experience with a number of therapists over the years and I think I am very good spotting excellence in this profession. Alicia is incredibly astute and is the best therapist I have encountered. If you are looking for a great person/therapist who will guide and nurture your development, I think she will prove to be an excellent choice. Good luck"
